The village is notable for its large modern ferry port. The surrounding areas of the village can best be explored by car. In addition, Dumfries and Galloway have plenty of interesting attractions.


What to do in Cairnryan


Cairnryan Caravan Park is a family-run holiday park, situated in the hills above Cairnryan, nearby the P&O ferry terminal. The area is ideal for walkers, while trekking, fishing and golf are also popular activities in the area. Cairnryan is also the perfect base from which you can make day trips to Northern Ireland.

Tourist Attractions


The area of Cairnryan boasts some excellent museums, galleries and historic interests. Activities such as pony-trekking and boating can be done locally, while the area is also a paradise for bird watchers.

Loch Ryan offers some good fishing and is famous for Conger eel. There are some well-stocked lochs and excellent salmon rivers to be found in the surrounding area. Fishing at sea can be done by joining organised sea trips, which leave from Stranraer and Port Patrick.
